Overview

A signage system for a concrete building where every corridor looked the same.

The brief

Arkade is a listed concrete building with seven floors and no obvious front. Visitors were getting lost between the café and the first gallery.

What we made

A wayfinding system in black and white with one signal colour for the way out. Numbers are big and words are small, so the building reads from a distance.

How it went

We walked the building with a stopwatch until every decision point had a sign. Then we removed the ones nobody needed.
